​The blog posts analyses a decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (2023), which examined the possible violation of the right to a healthy environment from an interesting perspective, which somewhat raised the issue of heritage protection as well.
Call for papers
Call for Papers: Eastern Journal of European Studies
The Eastern Journal of European Studies, edited in Romania by the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University is calling for papers for its special issue titled Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP): issues and challenges of regional cooperation for emerging countries. The deadline for submission is 30 January 2025. A call for papers is also in place for regular issues with deadlines of 30 December 2024, for the June 2025 issue, and 1 June 2025 for the December 2025 issue.
Conferences, workshops, book launches, presentations
EU Enlargement and Successfull Intergration: The Road Ahead
Despite the recent opening of accession negotiations with seral candidate countries, the enlargement process has been mostly stagnant over the last decade. The EU wants to „reinvigorate” it. The conference will discuss and analyse this initiative as well as other possible approaches for future enlargement on 6-7 March 2025.
International Conference on Judicial Independence (ICJI)
The World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology organizes its International Conference on Judicial Independence on 17-18 May 2025, in Bucharest, Romania. The conference will treat various issues of judicial independence, including the independence and impartiality of judges, arbitrators and judicial personnel. Papers may be submitted until April 16, 2025.
Legal Regulation of Digital Technology and Data Economy
The conference will be held in conjunction with the Data Day 2 conference on 25 April 2025. The Data Day 2 conference focuses on key issues of data law, data protection, and AI regulation, this parallel event will primarily address the latest EU regulations in the areas of media law, platform law, and cybersecurity.
Phenomenology - An Alternative Way to Read Roman Law Sources – Interdisciplinary workshop
The Pázmány Péter Catholic University Faculty of Law and Political Sciences organizes an interdisciplinary workshop with Edmund Waldstein on 21 February 2025. The workshop will be attended by Anna Varga-Jani. The aim of the academic exchange is to gain new perspectives for reading and interpreting Roman legal sources, different from mainstream approaches.

​On 28 January 2025 Professor Dr. Vasilka Sancin was elected by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Slovenia
Professor Dr. Vasilka Sancin has been a member of the Central European Professors’ Network since 2022. In 2022, she was affiliated with the research group „Constitutional Framework for the Protection of Future Generations and the Environment” and in 2024, she became an active member of the project „EU Enlargement and Successful Integration”.
